Student of the Month Incentive Tags
Students at Albany Elementary look forward to monthly POPS assemblies. POPS stands for the Power of Positive Students and Staff. At the assembly one student from each class is honored as the Student of the Month. The teacher picks a student based on the character trait of the month. In November our character trait will be citizenship. This gives the teacher a chance to teach the students about what each character trait means each month. Then students get to practice the trait throughout the month. Some of the other traits include responsibility, friendship, conscientious, and improvement.
When the student is selected as the Student of the Month their teacher takes their picture and places it on a special form that is proudly displayed on the Student of the Month bulletin board in the elementary hallway. At the POPS assembly they come forward to be honored and are given a special award. The group poses for a picture that is then passed on to the newspaper.
